About the PCWF Master Plan
After significant planning and construction, implementation of Gold Coast City Council’s international award winning Pimpama Coomera Waterfuture (PCWF) Master Plan (
PDF 418kb) is almost complete.
The PCWF Master Plan aims to secure a sustainable water future for residents of the 7,000 hectare Pimpama Coomera region by using multiple sources of water in all new homes approved after August 2005. All new homes in the Pimpama Coomera region have sustainable water features including:
- Class A+ recycled water: to be delivered through a separate water network that is coloured purple for easy identification. Class A+ recycled water will be used for toilet flushing and for external uses via purple outdoor taps.
- Rainwater tanks: to supply rainwater to the cold water washing machine tap and an optional outdoor tap. To ensure a constant supply of water, rainwater tanks are plumbed with a backup facility that allows the tank to draw on the town mains drinking water supply.
- Drinking water: for use in kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and to ‘top up’ rainwater tanks.
- Improved wastewater management systems: an improved wastewater system with less stormwater intrusion means less energy is required to treat wastewater from the region.
- Stormwater management - Water Sensitive Urban Design: These visually attractive landscaping and design features mimic nature to capture, slow and filter stormwater and protect local waterways.
