Pimpama Coomera residents invited to community open day

A community open day at the Pimpama Recycled Water Treatment Plant on Sunday 16 August is expected to attract hundreds of Pimpama Coomera residents.
The event will celebrate the upcoming delivery of Class A+ recycled water and educate residents about the water treatment process.
The free event will include tours of the treatment plant, sustainable living displays, plant give aways, sustainable gardening workshops, fun children’s activities, a free sausage sizzle and much more.
Council’s Water Management Chair and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Daphne McDonald says the open day is the perfect opportunity for families to learn more about how recycled water is produced.
“Families will be able to better understand the Class A+ recycled water treatment process and how to make the most of this unique water source,” Cr McDonald said.
“Over 3,000 homes will soon receive Class A+ recycled water, so it is vital that they are well educated about its uses in outdoor areas and for toilet flushing.”
“This is a very exciting time for Pimpama Coomera residents, Class A+ will allow them to conserve precious drinking water and save money on their water bills.
The open day at the Pimpama Recycled Water Treatment Plant on Kerkin Road North runs from 10am to 2pm. Please ensure you have sturdy footwear, be sun smart and wear a hat.

The Community Displays were set up at a variety of locations, including the Coles shopping complex at Coomera, Coomera City Centre and the Master Builders Display Village at Upper Coomera.
Community members received valuable information about Class A+ recycled water and team members were on site to answer questions about the project.
Attendees were advised that Class A+ recycled water will be flowing through outdoor taps at dual reticulated properties in Pimpama and Coomera later this year.
An additional round of Community Displays will be held in the coming months. Further details will be available at www.goldcoastwater.com.au/pimpamacoomera.
Real estate agents and plumbers set to visit Pimpama Recycled Water Treatment Plant

Plumbers are expected to connect all new homes in the Pimpama Coomera region to three different sources of water - drinking water, rainwater and Class A+ recycled water.
Plumbers will be given an update on plumbing in the PCWF region and will be reminded of the seven step dual reticulation cross connection check to ensure all properties are properly connected.
Community thanked for patience during construction of reservoirs

Residents in Upper Coomera have been thanked and acknowledged for their patience during the construction of the Peanba Park reservoirs.
The new drinking and recycled water reservoirs are an integral part of the recycled water network in Pimpama Coomera and are part of Package D – the largest element of the Pimpama Coomera Waterfuture Master Plan.
Council’s Water Management Chair and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Daphne McDonald says all efforts were made to minimise disruption to residents and businesses during construction.
“We thank all residents who were impacted during the construction phase. We are grateful to these residents who remained patient throughout the entire process.”
The Peanba Park Road reservoirs are comprised of a 25 mega litre drinking water reservoir and a 22 mega litre Class A+ recycled water reservoir and are part of a larger government initiative to secure and increase the region’s water supply.

What is the Pimpama Coomera Waterfuture Master Plan?

The PCWF Master Plan aims to secure a sustainable water future for residents of the 7,000 hectare Pimpama Coomera region by significantly reducing the use of precious drinking water. It is Australia's largest integrated urban water cycle management program.
High quality Class A+ recycled water will be produced at a new recycled water plant in Pimpama. Later this year, Class A+ recycled water will be supplied via a separate purple pipe network for non-drinking purposes such as toilet flushing, garden watering, car washing and external cleaning.
Rainwater tanks supply the cold water laundry tap and an external tap. Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) uses engineered landscaping features to help slow, reduce and filter stormwater run-off and improve environmental outcomes for Moreton Bay.
