Community open day date soon to be announced

Hundreds of Pimpama Coomera residents are expected to visit to the Pimpama Recycled Water Treatment Plant in the lead up to the launch of Class A+ recycled water.
A date will soon be announced for the Community Open Day. This is a free event for all Pimpama Coomera community members.
The event will be held at the Pimpama Recycled Water Treatment Plant and will teach community members about Class A+ recycled water and how the impressive plant operates.
This is a very exciting time for Pimpama Coomera residents. They will soon receive Class A+ recycled water saving them money on their water bill and allowing them to conserve precious drinking water.
The Community Open Day will celebrate the achievements of the Pimpama Coomera Waterfuture (PCWF) Master Plan while showing users first hand how the Class A+ recycled water product is made and the benefits they will reap from using it.
Locals will also learn more about the region’s sustainable urban water cycle.
Those living in the Pimpama Coomera region are part of a community at the pinnacle of sustainable urban development. It is time to celebrate living in the PCWF Master Plan region, which is one of the largest and most innovative water cycle management projects in Queensland.
Families will be treated to a free sausage sizzle, sustainability and gardening displays and much more.
Subscribers to the PCWF eNews will receive a special eNews invitation when dates and times are announced for the Community Open Day.
Developers and landholders learn more about Class A+ recycled water

More than 50 landholders and developers in the Pimpama Coomera region were treated to a special visit to the Pimpama Recycled Water Treatment Plant last month.
Guests were taken on a tour of the Pimpama Recycled Water Treatment Plant with guides explaining the treatment process for Class A+ recycled water.
The site tour included a visit to the preliminary treatment, biological nutrient removal, anthracite filtration and disinfection areas. Guests also learnt about the final stages of producing Class A+ recycled water visiting the ultra-filtration, ultra-violet disinfection and chlorination system areas.
Attendees were then treated to an informative presentation on the PCWF Master Plan by PCWF Program Manager Tom Silkstone and Gold Coast Water’s Manager of Infrastructure Delivery, Brett Lawrence.

Firefighters set to use Class A+ recycled water

Firefighters have learnt more about the Class A+ recycled water treatment process, by taking part in a tour of the Recycled Water Treatment Plant (RWTP) at Pimpama.
Early in June representatives from the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and the Rural Fire Service were given an in-depth explanation of the Class A+ recycled water treatment process. One of the approved uses for Class A+ recycled water is fire fighting and a number of Class A+ recycled water fire hydrants are located throughout the Pimpama Coomera region, it was a good opportunity for attendees to learn more about this new product.
The guests were given a guided site tour and a briefing on quality assurance procedures and managing the expectations around the consistency of water pressure and flow.
Superintendent of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, Peter Ryan, said the tour was very valuable.
“We found the whole process of great interest. It is vital that firefighters feel safe in using the product and we were all reassured as a result of our visit to the RWTP plant,” Mr Ryan said.
“It was a fabulous opportunity to have all of our questions answered.”
PCWF Community Advocacy Group continue to share their knowledge

Community Advocacy Group (CAG) members are ready to spread the word about Class A+ recycled water, following their third meeting.
The CAG was set up earlier this year to assist in disseminating information about the Master Plan and in particular, Class A+ recycled water, throughout the local community.
CAG members attended three meetings in 2009 and received regular briefings on the PCWF Master Plan’s progress.
CAG member and teacher at Coomera Anglican College, Doctor Debra Tedman said the CAG has helped her immensely.
“I found the CAG of great interest. I learned so much about the sustainable urban environment that we work and play in,” Dr Tedman said.
“It is very exciting to be a part of a community that is taking a holistic approach to water cycle management and I have enjoyed sharing information about the project with my peers and students at our school.”
Twelve people took part in the CAG, with representatives coming from a variety of backgrounds. Representatives included teachers, students, developers, landholders and local business people.
CAG members will now be busily presenting and handing out information about Class A+ recycled water to a variety of community organisations.
What is the Pimpama Coomera Waterfuture Master Plan?

The PCWF Master Plan aims to secure a sustainable water future for residents of the 7,700 hectare Pimpama Coomera region by significantly reducing the use of precious drinking water. It is Australia's largest integrated urban water cycle management program.
High quality Class A+ recycled water will be produced at a new recycled water plant in Pimpama. Class A+ recycled water will be supplied via a separate pipe network for non-drinking purposes such as toilet flushing, garden watering, car washing and external cleaning.
Rainwater tanks supply the cold water laundry tap and one optional external tap. Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) uses engineered landscaping features to help slow, reduce and filter stormwater run-off and improve environmental outcomes for Moreton Bay.
